They are selling anything and everything they can find out about us and to add insult to injury they're actually bragging about it.

I don't know about you, but that is not what I joined facebook for. I didn't suddenly have the urge to turn myself into a commodity to be bought, sold and traded!

So, the time has come again to seek a safe haven to hang out and stay in touch with friends and family. Therefore, I have begun work on KewlKatz once more. In fact over the last 48hrs I and structured and put in place the databases to handle memberships.

Joining will be as easy as 1-2-3, just enter your email address, choose a password, and click on the validation email when it arrives in your in-box.

The privacy policy will be straight forward too....
Your information will NOT be sold to marketers, advertisers, or 3rd parties.
The DEFAULT privacy settings for your account will be to protect your privacy, it will allow people to search and request friendship with you, but your posts will be by DEFAULT only viewable by those people on your friend list, and the same goes for your albums and pictures, including your profile picture. By DEFAULT personal information such as your email address and  any phone numbers or personal bio information will be PRIVATE, and as stated before you are not required or obligated to enter anything at all though you may want some basic information to help others find you in a friend search.
By DEFAULT no information other than email and password (necessary to create an account) will be required.
Another thing, if you delete your account your personal info, pictures, etc will be deleted also, I see this as the only ethical way in handling privacy.

Now you may be asking yourselves why I am doing things this way...

My Reasoning?
At first I considered moving to Google+, but they are a huge corporation with investors also and like facebook, their investors are primarily concerned with how much profit they can make, so it is my belief that they will just end up treating us like facebook in the end, a bunch of sheep to be sheered, bought, sold, and traded. It just seems to me the only way I can trust where I hang out with my friends is to own and control the whole site and so that is what I am doing, building a site that I can trust. I make enough money as a web developer and programmer for other firms, I do do not need to sell out people trying to stay in touch with each. I believe it is what I leave behind when I die and what people think of me after I am gone that will define who I was as a human being.

KewlKatz is meant to be a stand alone , hassle free, social network. A place where friends and family can stay in touch with each other without giving up their privacy and that's the way it is going to stay for as long as I own it.
I am only going back to completing this because I am sick and tired of being exploited by facebook, their investors, advertisers, and other social networks or pay to join sites who care little for our needs and focus only on the bottom line!
I want to be part of someplace where what I want and would like to see is more important that what sells the most ads. Plain English I am insulted every time someone refers to me as a customer or consumer.
I am a human being,  I was not put on this Earth just to buy their products!

Anyway, I am off to get some shut-eye and will be back programming full speed ahead in the morning. There is more to the web than marketing and I intend to raise the bar for social privacy and respecting the rights of the individual with KewlKatz.

I'll keep you all updated as the project nears opening, I estimate it to be in about 1 week.

I was taken away from this project to complete work on Business2businessmarketing.com and indoorinternetmall.com but will be back to work on KewlKatz by the end of the week.
The membership pages should become available by the end of may-middle of june, I will try and have them for you sooner if I can.
I really want to make KewlKatz tailored to the wants and needs of its members so now is the time to post all your suggestions. Just let me know what you would like to see, what you like or don't like about current sites like facebook or myspace as I will be considering all your feedback as I write the code.
I promise I will do my best to provide great features that are easy to use so you won't need a degree in computer science just to have a custom personal site.

Well that all for now because I have to get back to work and get KewlKatz Hoppin.
